Turning viscosity changes into sound: a brief explanation.

When a tuning fork is struck it produces a note according to  the density and viscosity of the gas or liquid surrounding it.

Highland Biosciences make microscopic tuning fork structures that enable real-time monitoring of chemical or biological reactions in tiny samples of liquids.  Its a sound measurement principle !
